Wessex Cancer Trust

Wessex Cancer Trust received a crisis grant of £1,500 during the Covid-19 pandemic from the Isle of Wight Community Fund, to help cover the costs of a telephone helpline and virtual counselling service for three months for families affected by Cancer on the Island.

The helpline offers advice, support, professional counselling and befriending services while a Daisy Bus service transports patients to Portsmouth and Southampton to help Islanders deal with the added challenge of travel to the mainland for hospital appointments.

This grant will help us to continue to support local people affected by cancer at this worrying time. Many people with cancer are isolated from friends and family, and face the difficult decision of whether to continue with their treatment or protect their immunity.
